Der Verantwortliche für das Werk, der „Sonderbeauftragte für Kultur“ Timo Hempel war erstmals im vorletzten Jahr aufgefallen, als er sich vehement gegen die Kritisierung der Präsentation von „Die Feuerzangenbowle“ im Uni-Kino wehrte. Dabei war er sich nicht zu schade, die Feuerzangebowle zu einem subversiven Film gegen das Nazi-Regime umzudeuten. Der von Uni-Kino und Kritikern getroffene Kompromiss in Form einer kritischen Einführung in den 1944 gedrehten Film, lehnte er ebenfalls ab. „Ihr habt den Leuten 15 Minuten ihren Spaß genommen“, so sein Statement. Der Film „Die Feuerzangenbowle“ ist natürlich keine offene Propaganda, sonst würde man ihn wohl kaum im TV und im Uni-Kino zeigen. Dennoch enthält er subtile Botschaften im Sinne des Faschismus, die wenigstens einer kritischen Kommentierung bedürfen. Doch dies wollte Hempel nicht einsehen.
